Bend Sister with special guests Sleepshake, Chase the Bear, and Ripple Illusion

Catch friends of the show, Victoria band SLEEPSHAKE, as they open for Bend Sinister at the Hollywood Theatre in Vancouver. Tickets are available here and are $20. SLEEPSHAKE has submitted one of Unsigned BC host Brandon’s favorite rock tracks to come out of the province in the last few years, “Medicine”. The song sits squarely in the genre of modern indie rock, and has been featured on our show multiple times as well as on our playlist. It would be an absolute delight to hear live.

In addition to SLEEPSHAKE you will get to enjoy the talented groups Chase the Bear and Ripple Illusion. Unsigned BC is familiar with Chase the Bear - a moderately popular Vancouver indie rock group (1700+ followers on IG) that produces incredibly catchy and emotional hits like their popular track “Colours” which has amassed nearly 50k listens on Spotify. Ripple Illusion produces some fun, foot stomping, melodic groovy funk rock with fun use of harmonies reminiscent of the Beach Boys. Headliners Bend Sinister are another throwback, combining some of the best sounds from the 60s through 80s for some intricate and rich, full sounding experience. Our cursory research suggests you will be treated to a group that takes influence from opera rock, adds a soft 80s touch, and utilizes contemporary melodies to create a sometimes darker but always impressive sound.

The hosts of Unsigned BC have moved to Vancouver Island in the past years and in retrospect checking out the local entertainment options was one of the best parts of living in Vancouver.
